Mommy and Evan

Since he was in a good mood at the moment I thought I would take some pictures of Evan and Me. I am still waiting to get the word that the professional pictures that we had done are ready. When I hear from her I will let everyone know so that you can logon and look at them.

I don't like shots.

Today Evan had his 2 month shots so that he can start daycare. Little trooper got 5 shots in his thighs. He quit crying by the time we got to the car but then after being home for awhile he was inconsolable other than laying on my chest. When he did finally get to sleep he was out for a few hours. At the doctor's office he weights 11.7 which is kind of funny since it is 6 weeks ago he was born on 7-11. He is now 22 1/2 inches long.

Smile!

It is rare at this stage that he smiles so to catch it on camera I was pretty happy. I have been uploading these pictures on here by week but realized that it takes a while to sort through them to make sure I have the ones for the correct week.
So therefor I will just go through and put them on there when I find time. He is now up to 12.5 lbs. The other day we went to the daycare so that we could meet the teachers and get our paperwork to fill out. The night before he slept the best he has since he came home. It hink we put him to bed at 9:30 and he didn't get up until about 5:30 the next morning. Now if he could do that everynight I would be set. Larry started back to work today so I will be on my own for a few days since he will be out of town.

Tummy time

Evan likes to lay on his boppy. Especially when you are sitting next to him on the couch. I took this first video of him sucking on his pacifer. He usually sucks the thing so fast that he spits it right out and is still making the sucking motion with his mouth.

Week 5

He has grown to love his boppy. He will lay back in that thing next to me on the couch and just stare at me and sometimes smile.

Week Four

Well he is offically 4 weeks old and time sure has went by quickly. Of coure the time off from work has been a little boring but now we have a routine so I have gotten use to it and I am dreading going back to work. Though I know it will be good for him espically once he gets a little older to have the interaction with other babies. Still no sleeping through the night but at least he only wakes up once really during the middle of the night and then at 6 am.

1st bath

This was his first time taking a bath in the infant tub. Surprisingly he really doesn't mind it. Of course I can't really tell if he likes it but at least he doesn't cry. Lets hope it stays that way.

Week Three

He is growing like a weed. He is up to a little over 10 lbs.

The other Grandkid

The dogs loved having Momma and Daddy here. They would take them for long walks and it about wore Jessie out but of course Rocky could go on and on.

UK Fan

Of course his Kentucky Wildcat outfit is a little big but we put it on so that we could take pictures for all our Kentucky family. Of course there will be some Texas A&M pictures to come pretty soon.

Week Two

At his two week check up he was just up over his birth weight. He weighed 8.11 lbs at the two week check up. Also the doctor said that his yellow jaundice was gone as well which was good. He eats really well which is good now if only he would sleep through the night.

Week One

This is the first week home. We took a lot of pictures that first week since he is so new I wanted to take all kinds of pictures to send to everyone. He changes so much in just a few days. Of course all he really does is eat and sleep and poop.

Grandma and Grandpa Powell

This is the first grandchild for my parents. I know that they are pretty excited about it. Espically Momma, now she has her own boy other than Cole and Clay to spoil. It was good to have them here espically since I had no experience with a newborn baby. Daddy didn't want to feed him since he got chocked a lot and I was even nervous myself about feeding him but he has gotten a lot better.

Going Home from the Hospital

July 13, 2008
We got to go home from the hospital three days after the delivery. Grandma and Grandpa Powell were there to go home with us. It was nice to have some help around the house and with Evan.

The birth of our son

July 11, 2008
You know I had very mixed emotions going into the hospital. I was excited to finally meet my son but I was also very nervous about the pain. Though I will say for anyone who hasn't had a child before watching the show Birth Day on the Discovery channel helped me. It can also make you nevrous seeing all the things that could go wrong.

I knew that I would have to be induced though because of other issues that I had during the pregnancy. So when I went to my appointment on that Friday and the doctor said that she wanted me to go to the hospital I had a feeling I wasn't going home that day. Of course Larry wasn't with me so he had to come to the hospital later on.

When they decided to get things going I had the epidural first and then they started the pitocion. After watching on Birth Day where the induction medicine can make the contractions stronger and more painful I figured I shoudl go ahead with the pain meds and that did the trick I didn't even feel the contractions after that and the shot to me was the worst part as far as pain goes.

After I was fully dialiated 30 minutes of pushing and there he was weighing 8.1 pounds and was 20.5 inches long. Larry was there for the whole thing and was helping hold my leg and cut the cord. It was an experience I am glad that I got to have.
