You know I had very mixed emotions going into the hospital. I was excited to finally meet my son but I was also very nervous about the pain. Though I will say for anyone who hasn't had a child before watching the show Birth Day on the Discovery channel helped me. It can also make you nevrous seeing all the things that could go wrong.
I knew that I would have to be induced though because of other issues that I had during the pregnancy. So when I went to my appointment on that Friday and the doctor said that she wanted me to go to the hospital I had a feeling I wasn't going home that day. Of course Larry wasn't with me so he had to come to the hospital later on.
When they decided to get things going I had the epidural first and then they started the pitocion. After watching on Birth Day where the induction medicine can make the contractions stronger and more painful I figured I shoudl go ahead with the pain meds and that did the trick I didn't even feel the contractions after that and the shot to me was the worst part as far as pain goes.
After I was fully dialiated 30 minutes of pushing and there he was weighing 8.1 pounds and was 20.5 inches long. Larry was there for the whole thing and was helping hold my leg and cut the cord. It was an experience I am glad that I got to have.
